Van Buren County Community School District serves the educational needs of our community through our dedicated facilities: two elementary centers, Douds and Harmony, and a combined high school and middle school located in Keosauqua, Iowa. Our mission is to provide a nurturing and challenging environment that fosters academic excellence, personal growth, and a lifelong love of learning. With a commitment to student-centered education and community involvement, we strive to prepare every student for success both in and out of the classroom.

Welcome to our community

Step back in time to 12 quaint villages with warm southern Iowa hospitality. Antiques, historic lodging, bed-and-breakfast inns, lakeside cabins, unique dining, two National Historic Districts, specialty shops, resident artisans, Amish and Mennonite communities.
